I was recently there for the first time. I was attending a business conference.
San Francisco has a lot to see and learn about, but unfortunately, I didn’t know where to start to get around the city and see the sites, even those within walking distance of my hotel.
Only after returning home to the Midwest did I learn about Free SF Tour, which is a free walking tour of San Francisco that starts everyday at 10am from Union Square. Union Square was directly across the street from the hotel in which I was staying.
Free SF Tour provides a great way to learn about the history, architecture and fun facts of San Francisco. The stories are told by a motivated guide who is passionate about the city!
At the end of the tour each guest receives The Bucket List for San Francisco, which offers local insider tips on places to eat and activities to experience.
Technically, the tour is free and an independently run operation. However, they do ask for donations -- you can donate as much or as little as you think the tour is worth.
The money collected is used for making musical instruments and to support the street artists in the city of San Francisco.
